I have used this set exclusively for a year and a half now and this cookset has lived up to my expectations. When researching different companies I could not understand the cost difference. As usual when researching outdoor gear the number one topic is weight. Now lets put this in perspective we are talking ounces here. Personally I prefer to sacrifice a little weight for gear that is study and well put together. I personally need equipment that is tough and reliable. The one concern always for me is fuel consumption, acquiring fuel, and as always carting in and out on long distance hikes. These concerns have been pretty much put to rest, I always carry 2 canisters and have yet to run out of fuel, and have found through research where to resupply if needed. With these you can always use a wood fire to boil water if needed. I prefer canister stoves over alcohol and certainly over Esbit (or solid fuel types), on many different levels, but it is personal preference. Worth noting is you can use other brands of canister fuels just match up the nipple.
The kit itself is great kit and allows flexibility on what you want to bring, the whole set or half. The large set is over 24 oz (closer to 30 oz approx.) and the small set 16 oz. So you actually get 2 sets for one price. Which is amazing, when comparing sets to purchase. Comes with a bag which isn't really a big deal, but less hassle. Another concern when purchasing for me was would the pot be sturdy on the stove. Answer, absolutely, I have made lunch using the stove in a canoe on the water, no problem.
I paid under $55 for both the cookset and stove at my local walmart. Through a little checking around you still find the stove on the coleman website and in walmart, and quite a few other online retailers. I have not seen the cookset lately on coleman or at my local walmart. I have posed the question on whether the set has been discontinued to Coleman and am waiting for a response. Here is the link to the stove http://www.coleman.com/Product/2000001833#.VK03PWctDcc. I would recommend shopping around. The stove is tough and sturdy.
I recommend finding and purchasing these items, if your use is similar to mine. It would absolutely, without a doubt, stand up to a prolonged period of time in the woods or on the water.
